We are a regenerative gardening business with a focus on permaculture. Permaculture is a design approach founded in the 1970s by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren in Lutruwita/Tasmania. The word “permaculture” originally referred to an abbreviation of the term “permanent agriculture” and was later extended to include the term “permanent culture”.
Permaculture is a design approach based on understanding how nature works. It aims to create sustainable and self-sufficient systems that are in harmony with the environment. It can be applied to various areas, including gardening, agriculture, and community development. Permaculture consists of three core ethics:
- Earth Care: Taking care of the earth and its ecosystems;
- People Care: Taking care of ourselves, our families, and our communities;
- Fair Share: sharing the surplus with others and returning the surplus back to the earth.
There are twelve foundational principles that provide more guidance on how a design could meet the three core ethics.
